Round Table on Agricultural Cooperation held on July 15, 2015 at Bishkek
In the Joint Statement issued during the Indian Prime Minister's visit to the Kyrgyz Republic during July 11-12, 2015 the leaders of the two countries stated the following: "Underlining the fact that more than sixty percent of the population in India and the Kyrgyz Republic works in the agriculture sector, the sides reaffirmed the importance of meaningful collaboration in the agriculture sector. The Indian side offered to share experience in agro-processing, greenhouse technology, water conservation, and agricultural research in order to enhance productivity and add value to agricultural produce. The Sides welcomed the round table to be held shortly in Bishkek on strengthening cooperation in the Agriculture sector to identify avenues and concrete projects for cooperation in this sector."
As per the announcement made, a Round Table on agricultural cooperation was held in Bishkek on July 15, 2015. The delegation from India was led by H.E. Mr. Siraj Hussain, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. The Kyrgyz side was led by the Minister of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan, H.E. Mr. Talaibek Aidaraliev.
Around 110 Kyrgyz representatives of Agricultural Associations, media houses and individual farmers participated in the Round Table. After initial presentations, the two sides interacted with each other in different sub-groups on themes like seeds, farm equipments, dairy, greenhouse technology, irrigation facilities, resource saving technology, organic farming, cattle breeding and government policies etc.
