Indian Weekend in Kochkor, Naryn Region

After successful conduct of “India Week” in June 2014 in Bishkek and “Indian Weekend” in Bokonbaeva, Issyk-Kul on 16-17 August 2014, the next in the series of ‘Indian Weekends’ was in the town of Kochkor on 30-31 August 2014. The local leadership including Akim of the region was fully involved in the preparation of the event. The event included display of a photo-exhibition depicting Indian culture and heritage; exhibition-cum-sale of Indian goods and handicrafts; cultural performance of Indian folk and popular dances by a Bishkek-based group ‘Kauhar’ and the local artists from Kochkor; festival of Indian films mainly produced after the year 2000; and a 25-minute presentation on India’s Cultural Heritage. Around 500 residents of Kochkor and neighbouring villages participated in different events.
