Indian Weekend in Bokonbaeva, Issyk-Kul Region
After successful conduct of “India Week” from 13 to 20 June 2014 in Bishkek, an “Indian Weekend” was organized in the town of Bokonbaeva in partnership with the Akim of the Ton Region and ethno-tourist centre Almaaluu on 16-17 August 2014. The event included display of a photo-exhibition developed by the Embassy depicting Indian culture and heritage; exhibition-cum-sale of Indian goods and handicrafts; cultural performance of Indian folk and popular dances by a Bishkek-based group; and festival of Indian films mainly produced after the year 2000. Around 2,500 residents of Bokonbaeva and neighbouring villages participated in different events. The local leadership was fully involved in the conduct of the events.
